“Making the Invitation List”
It’s something that some brides, and yes even grooms, will learn to dread…making the invitation list. Why is it so rough on certain couples? For starters, most people have a set budget for their wedding. These days even a modest budget is over $10,000, so when choosing how many people you can afford to feed for an evening after taking into account the people in your wedding party. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to make some cuts. The good news is that you can usually invite everybody to the ceremony, unless it’s being held at some special place with crowd size restrictions. Anyway, the key to getting your list of who’s invited is to prioritize.
A good place to start your list is to answer these two questions: 1) Who really wants to come? And 2) Who is a really close family member or friend? Usually whoever falls into both of these categories are people that simply must go on the list. Once you see how many people that is, you can decide if you should add more or not. Keep in mind that not everyone you invite is going to make it, so it’s okay if you send out more invitations than you think you can handle. Of course, this is the whole reason behind RSVP slips in wedding invitations.
